Singularity secure third in MDL over Vireo.pro; earn spot at Global Challenge
In a two map affair, Singularity were able to rebound from their Swole Patrol loss yesterday to a win against Vireo.pro, who had to use Rustun "Rustun" Lusk instead of Donovan "zNf" Froid.
Despite losing to Swole 16-13 on Train in their previous series, it wasn't enough to deter Singularity from choosing it again in a redemption match. On what is typically a CT-sided map, Vireo.pro struggled along, barely taking the first half 8-7.
The struggles continued into the second half where they'd win only a single T-side round while Singularity would cruise to the nine rounds they needed for victory.
In contrast, Vireo started off well on Mirage, garnering the matches first four rounds thanks to Rustun's fragging and flashes, but it would be the next nine rounds that wouldn't go their way due to Anthony "vanity" Malaspina's AWPing prowess. Vireo.pro took only the 14th round afterwards, equating to a 10-5 half in favor of the youngsters.
Singularity piled onto their score taking the pistol on their T-side bringing them up to a 14-5 lead after the anti-eco rounds were finished. Vireo.pro managed to accumulate seven more rounds, but it was all for nought as Singularity beat them to the 16.
The win sends Singularity to the MDL LAN alongside Swole Patrol and cantwinalan, as well as a chance at Pro League in the relegation tournament. Meanwhile, Vireo.pro will be taking home a cash prize of $2,500.
The location of the MDL LAN has been undecided, however the teams in attendance will now be:
3DMAX | Swole Patrol |
Virtus.Pro | cantwinalan |
Kinguin | Singularity |
Grayhound | TBD |
