DreamHack Masters set to hit Dallas in 2019
DreamHack have announced that they are set to host an even in the Texan city of Dallas between May 31st and June 2nd of next year at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Arena. Alongside the main festival, the event will also host the DreamHack Masters Dallas with a $250,000 prize pool.
The 16-team Masters event itself will take place between May 28th to June 2nd to account for the group stage. This will be the second DreamHack Masters event to take place in the USA, with the last taking place in Las Vegas in 2017. A number of the teams will receive invites to the event, with qualifiers taking place for each of North America, Europe, China and Asia. Qualifier details and invites will be announced closer to the event.
The Masters event will also feature a new format, with the 16-teams split into two groups, and from there the top six teams will head to the arena over the weekend, similar to the standardized format sister company ESL has utilised over the past year.
DreamHack Dallas will also feature a three-day BYOC LAN event, alongside other esports tournaments as well as cosplay, live music and an expo area at the venue. This is another event in Texas, with previous events like the ESL Pro League finals held in the city, and the upcoming ECS Season 6 Finals set to be held at the Esports Stadium in neighboring Arlington.
