ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup Invites and Schedule
FACEIT have revealed the final three invite teams and the schedule for the ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup, taking place between September 27th and October 2nd. Joining compLexity on the invite list will be three Brazilian-majority teams; FURIA, oNe and MIBR.
MIBR pick up an invite having taken part in the previous season of ECS, albeit under SK. This is the second time the core of this team are required to re-qualify, both times due to moving organization rather than based on performances. The team list for the ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup is as follows:
compLexity | FURIA |
oNe | MIBR |
Bravado | Gorilla Gang |
AZIO | lmfao |
The announcement was offered alongside the schedule for the competition, with games starting today. The initial scheduled start time for all the games is 9pm EDT, however they can be played at any point in the day, if the teams agree. It is also worth mentioning that MIBR are currently in Turkey for BLAST Pro Series Istanbul and would have to play at least two matches from the country due to the clashing schedule.
The first round match-ups are as follows:
September 25th |
compLexity vs. lmfao |
FURIA vs. Bravado |
oNe vs. Gorilla Gang |
MIBR vs. AZIO |
Curiously, earlier in the day FURIA's coach, Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira, tweeted out an image of the schedule and stated that the qualifier would offer three slots for ECS Season 6, which would imply that SK had completely withdrawn from North American-based CS:GO. However, in the current version of the schedule we have available, only two spaces are on offer from the North American Challenger Cup.
This could imply that the NoTag team, which had been rumored for a long time to join SK and are now set to join INTZ, could potentially be taking part in the league under the SK name under a loan agreement, or SK could be using a completely different team in the league.
