Guerrilla Tactics to become ex-GT; coachJ and co. leave roster
As the 29th season of ESEA inches closer, the Guerrilla Tactics lineup took a hit as team owner Justin "coachJ" Anzalone has decided to move on from the organization. With that, both Aleksandar "ALEKSANDAR" Hinojosa and Zander "FIEND" Bates have departed the roster as well.
Guerrilla Tactics faced a lot of different issues throughout the Advanced division in Season 28 as ten different people accumulated rounds over the season. ALEKSANDER and FIEND were two of only three different players to start the whole season, the last being Don "b33f" Frain who for a short period was going to be replaced by Alex "lanhero" Suarez.
The team finished the season with a respectable 12-4 record and the fourth seed in playoffs. Unfortunately for GT, The Fundamentals proved to be too much and lost in the Ro16.
During the Pre-Relegation tournament GT was able to get one Bo3 win over Cerus, but fell short in the semifinals, losing to Joel "jcrueL" Cruel's team Glockoma.
coachJ has cited personal issues as motivation to move on from CS:GO, as well as not finding the ROI he had hoped for. Despite many playoff appearances in different divisions, it was only Season 23 that GT was able to win Intermediate garnering $2,250.
"...financially, I just couldn't justify the expenditure without any additional backing. I've really enjoyed being involved in the CS community for the past 3 years, but it might be time for me to move on."
With the departures, the ex-Guerrilla Tactics ESEA roster still has:
- Don "b33f" Frain
- Jazzy "Ematics" Kruczynski
- "ayjin"
- "genghsta"
- "aKoOo"
- Manuel "Simple" Mieres (Coach)
