ESEA announces MDL relegation changes for Season 29
ESEA has announced changes to the relegation process for MDL, which will be effective next season. At the end of Season 29's regular season, the bottom two teams in the standings will be directly demoted to Advanced, as opposed to just one.
Conversely, the top placing team in Advanced will be directly promoted to MDL. This change comes after backlash from Brazilian fans who argued against oNe having to play against other Advanced teams to make their way into MDL, despite winning Advanced.
For the relegation tournament, the top three teams from Advanced, below the team that is directly promoted, will play in relegation. On the MDL side, the bottom four teams from MDL, above the two that are directly demoted, will play in relegation.
One slot will be reserved for an invite, however if an invite is not granted to a team by ESEA, then it will instead be given to the next Advanced team. Of the eight teams that will play in relegation, only three will qualify for MDL.
More information and details regarding other MDL regions can be found on ESEA's official blog post.
