IEM Chicago likely to replace Oakland stop in November
The November IEM stop that has taken place in Oakland for the past two years is likely to be moved to Chicago, according to a report from VPEsports. The event is reportedly set to take place from November 5-12, with the stage matches possibly taking place in the United Center as the venue remains unbooked for those dates according to DBLTAP.
The 13th IEM Season has already seen FaZe and NRG claim the lions share of $250,000 at IEM Sydney and IEM Shanghai, respectively, but it is uncertain what IEM Chicago may have on offer as the prior two IEM Oakland stops had $300,000 up for grabs. Both Oakland stops were won by Ninjas in Pyjamas to give the Swedish team two of their three LAN victories in the past two years.
Although no official announcement has been made, IEM Chicago will likely be a part of the Intel Grand Slam circuit as it is a major Intel event. FaZe are currently one win away from taking home $1,000,000, with DreamHack Masters Stockholm being their final opportunity to grab their fourth win. Astralis sit at two wins with a number of opportunities still available in the coming weeks.
