BlackOut confirm Jonji addition
BlackOut have confirmed the addition of former RESOLUTE star Jonathan "Jonji" Carey, as previously reported by Dust2.us. He joins the team in place of Michael "MAiNLiNE" Jaber, who parted ways with the organization for undisclosed reasons. The new BlackOut roster is set to debut at Fragadelphia this upcoming week.
The change follows middling results from the BlackOut roster against teams of similar caliber — the roster found themselves taking down Swole Patrol in their opening matchup of the StarSeries Season 6 qualifier, only to fumble a 15-6 lead against oNe in their second matchup. Their struggles were further illustrated as they fell to Swole Patrol on the same two maps they had previously been competitive on, seeing themselves out of the qualifier.
BlackOut's results from MDL Season 28 saw them finish the season in 10th place, just shy of playoffs but with a confirmed slot in the upcoming promotion season. Alongside their online results, their LAN placings are just shy of where the team is aiming to be.
A heroic performance by Collin "wrath" McSweegan wasn't enough for BlackOut to take the win at Tokyo in Tulsa 2, where they faced Vision in the grand finals, narrowly losing out on first place 2-1. With the StarSeries loss and MDL placing adding to their struggles, the team now look to improve with Jonji going forward.
With the addition of Jonji, BlackOut's roster is as follows:
- Connor "CONNOR93" Glover
- Chad "Oderus" Miller
- Collin "wrath" McSweegan
- Sebastian "seb" Bucki
- Jonathan "Jonji" Carey
- Jeremy "Jeremy9000" Gray (Coach / Manager)
BlackOut are set to compete at Fragadelphia 12, where they'll face a slew of MDL players and mixteams. They also await the start of MDL Season 29 where they'll have a chance to compete for a slot in EPL.
