Renegades get mou-ed down by Gambit in Sweden; eliminated

The majority Australian team continue to struggle after losing coach kassad.

Renegades have been eliminated from DreamHack Open Summer at the hands of the CIS side Gambit.

The series began on Cache, Renegades pick and a North American staple. However Abay "Hobbit" Khasenov had other ideas, as he helped lead his team to a dominant 13-2 on the Terrorist side. After this display, the rest of the map was a mere formality, and Gambit quickly wrapped it up 16-6.

Overpass was a much more competitive affair. Gambit continued their winning ways from the first map by securing the opening pistol and following rounds, but Renegades answered back with three of their own. After another three round streak by the CIS team, Renegades secured the remaining rounds in the half to lead 9-6 at the midpoint of the map.

Gambit immediately equalized the score at 9-9 after winning yet another pistol, and with Rustem "mou" Telepov in peak form managed to close out the map and series.

The result sees the Australian/Norwegian/American team eliminated in the group stage of the event, undoubtedly disappointing as they were the second highest-rated team coming into the tournament. It should be noted that the team are currently without a coach after the surprise departure of Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović.

Gambit will now go on to play compLexity to see which team will take the second seed out of Group B, and earn the pleasure of playing The Imperial in the semifinals. That match is scheduled for 1:00 PM EDT.

Dust2 Birthday cake!
Sad state of affairs for Renegades. Hopefully they're able to turn it around with a new eccentric coach, but I'm worried that their issues bleed deeper than just leadership and morale.
