Renegades headed to Cologne after taking down OpTic
Renegades have secured a spot at ESL One Cologne, after taking down the Danes of OpTic 3-1. While the score looks decisive, it should be noted that the Aussies had a one map advantage due to coming from the upper bracket.
With both NRG and compLexity opting to forego the qualifier due to the main event clashing with the Americas Minor, the six team qualifier was reduced to four.
Renegades started their qualifier journey by playing Luminosity, who had taken down eUnited 2-0 in the opening round. Renegades in turn defeated the Brazilians, before defeating OpTic in 2-0 fashion as well.
After the Danes vanquished eUnited, a rematch was set up between them and Renegades. A 16-6 victory on Inferno had the Australians poised to head to Cologne, but OpTic returned the favor in kind on Train. On Mirage, Karlo "USTILO" Pivac and Noah "Nifty" Francis led Renegades to victory, sending them to Cologne.
ESL One Cologne will begin on July 3rd, with Cloud9, Liquid, SK, and now Renegades in attendance.
