Esports World Cup 2025 details revealed
The Esports World Cup (EWC) Foundation revealed on March 12th some details of the upcoming CS2 tournament at EWC 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event will see 16 teams fight for their share of the $1,250 million prize pool between August 20th-24th.
Out of the 16 teams attending EWC 2025, 15 will be invited based on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS). The final slot will be filled by the winner of Asia Champions League, a $300,000 tournament run by Hero Esports in China in June.
EWC 2025 will place the 16 teams in a single-elimination bracket. The first day of the tournament will feature six of the eight Round of 16 matches, and the second day will feature the remaining Round of 16 matches and two quarterfinal matches.
The third day of the event will see the remaining two quarterfinal matches, and the semifinals will be played on the fourth day. The grand finals will be played on the fifth day, August 24th. It's unclear at this point if all matches are going to be best-of-three series or if EWC plans to run a best-of-five for the grand finals.
It's also unclear if the EWC Foundation will offer rewards for the organizations attending the tournament like ESL, the other organizer, has been doing all year. This is the complete prizepool breakdown for EWC 2025:
1st - $500,000
2nd - $230,000
3rd-4th - $100,000
5th-8th - $40,000
9th-16th - $20,000
