NRG breeze past everyone to win Launders LAN 2

The other teams didn't have a chance against nitr0's troops.

NRG won Launders LAN 2, a $25,000 CAD tournament organized by caster Mohan "launders" Govindasamy. They defeated three teams during the group stage on January 4 and carried this good form to the playoffs, besting all three teams dominantly on January 5.

Launders LAN 2 was cut short due to an array of technical issues that forced production to cancel half of the group stage, which garnered much criticism on social media.

NRG made it to the grand finals of Launders LAN 2 after sweeping both CYNICALS and Vatican City in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. Nick "nitr0" Cannella and co. only dropped twelve rounds across these four maps played and most notably defeated Vatican City by 13-0 on Vertigo.

NRG carried that momentum to the grand finals versus MSC and absolutely dismantled them, winning the opener on Anubis by 13-1. Although MSC played better on Mirage, it wasn't enough to stop NRG from running away with a 13-8 win and consequently securing the title at Launders LAN 2.

Jeorge "Jeorge" Endicott, who only joined NRG at the end of November 2024, was one of NRG's best players throughout the tournament and topped the scoreboard in the grand finals as he claimed 19 frags on each map.

The top four at Launders LAN 2 is as follows:

1st - United States NRG (nitr0, Brehze, oSee, HexT, Jeorge) - $15,000 CAD
2nd - United States MCS (snufaffu, ogura, Oczarka, Scorchyy, Goodbye) - $6,250 CAD
3rd/4th - Canada Vatican City (stretch, Eddie, ToastyUnicorns, JohnnyWP, KIP) - $1,875 CAD
3rd/4th - Canada Masso Chiasson (NaRo, kicking, Jord, SarkasM, JvXt) - $1,875 CAD

In the aftermath of the tumultuous Launders LAN 2, launders said on X that he's working on a breakdown video to talk about the expectations they had for the event and the lessons learned from running this LAN.

Honestly I think they're actually a pretty good team but this LAN means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Hoping they can use the experience on stage in the future I guess but there also really wasn't much pressure other than the prize pool due to the level of play being displayed by other teams.

As a former TO, very sad to see it go the way it went, but I'm glad they were able to make the most of the situation!
