PW Shanghai Major Day Four Recap: Complexity collapses, Wildcard makes a statement
The dust has settled after the fourth and final day of the Perfect World Shanghai Major. Wildcard Gaming continues its magical run in Shanghai, qualifying for the Elimination Stage, while the favored higher-ranked Complexity roster snatched defeat from the jaws of victory once again.
Wildcard makes magic once again
After starting the Opening Stage 1-2, Wildcard notched two straight best-of-three series wins while on the brink of elimination to punch their ticket to the Elimination Stage. On the final day, Wildcard matched against up-and-coming Passion UA, and dominated their choice of Inferno to start of the series. Passion rallied back on their pick of Mirage, setting up a decisive map on Ancient.
On the third map, Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and Tim "susp" Ångström absolutely shined in a massive performance, putting up a server-high 27 kills each, bolstered by some crucial clutches and big plays. After Passion took the first round of OT, Wildcard strung together four straight of their own to move on.
Another Complexity international collapse
While Wildcard was clutch in their decisive round five match, Complexity crumbled under the spotlight. The series against BIG started off well with a surprise pick of Anubis, where Complexity looked comfortable and in control the whole time. BIG bounced back on their pick of Ancient, sending the series to Dust2.
On Dust2 though, despite the best efforts of Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, Complexity broke down on their CT-side in the second half. It was an awful third map for both Ricky "floppy" Kemery and Michael "Grim" Wince, and Complexity are now out. This is the first time in EliGE's career that he has not finished in the top 16 of an attended Major.
