Nifty will stand behind the team in Riyadh

Team USA announce revised roster for IESF 2024

Getting a team to Riyadh is seemingly easier said than done.

Yesterday Collin "CoJoMo" Moren announced an updated Team USA roster for IESF 2024, seeing Cory "shutout" Frymark replaced by Mason "mason" Watkins while retired pro, Noah "Nifty" Francis, is also set to coach the lineup in Riyadh. The changes to Team USA's formation follows the majority of the lineup finishing up bans from ESL FACEIT Group, with the team now looking to put the antics behind them as they are set to represent America in the 24-team tournament.

Dust2.us confirmed that shutout pulled out from the event due to work commitments, leading to CoJoMo and co. electing to field mason, who currently plays for InControl. Nifty joins the squad as coach four months after retiring from Counter-Strike 2 amidst mixed fortunes with MIGHT.

With mason and Nifty, Team USA will look to put forward a better effort than in years previous, with Team USA traditionally faring quite poorly at IESF. With a similar roster at IESF 2023 in Iași, Romania CoJoMo and co. exited the tournament in the group stage with a 1-4 record, only winning a single map against Team Algeria.

The somewhat last-minute change to Team USA's roster comes amidst a tumultuous time overall for the Saudi-backed IESF tournament, with Saudi Prince Faisal even allegedly attempting to cancel it as recently as mid-September while multiple LAN qualifiers for the event have had to be canceled on short notice. Additionally, multiple teams have had to pull out or revise their teams, with Team Lebanon set to miss the event under controversial circumstances and Argentina having to change their roster entirely due to conflicts with the Perfect World Major Shanghai RMRs.

Team USA will now head to Riyadh with:

  • United States John "mds" Marin

  • United States Gabriel "Gabe" Shah

  • United States Collin "CoJoMo" Moren

  • United States Nolan "Louie" Herges

  • United States Mason "mason" Watkins

  • United States Noah "Nifty" Francis (Coach)

The IESF World Esports Championship 2024 is set to start on November 11th.
