Pugg and co. could only get one win in Romania

Men's Team USA eliminated from IESF World Esports Championship 2023

The team's time in Romania ended with just one win.

Team USA ended its IESF World Esports Championship 2023 campaign with a win against Algeria, managing not to go winless on the group stage.

In a group topped by the three European teams in it, Team USA finished two wins away from playoffs, behind Serbia, North Macedonia, the Czech Republic, and Indonesia. Algeria finished last in the group.

After day one where the team ended with a 0-2 record against North Macedonia, and Czech Republic, things were still salvageable if the USA could get a flawless day two. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, as the squad lost to Serbia, knocking them out of playoff contention. The following games, against Indonesia and Algeria, would be played just to complete the schedule.

The game between USA and Indonesia was close until the very end, with overtime being needed to settle the winner. Ultimately, it was Indonesia who would take the 19-15 win.

To end their run in Romania, Team USA managed to get a win against Algeria. The 16-11 Overpass win meant that the USA would not leave the competition winless.

Despite the record, the players from Team USA value the experience gathered and will be staying in Europe until the end of the tournament trying to get some practice done against EU teams.
