Team USA kicks off IESF Female World Esports Championship with win
Although the men's IESF World Esports Championship started on Saturday, the women's edition started today and with it, the journey of the women's Team USA began.
The first game was against South Africa, which is a mix of players from two teams, ATK female and White Rabbit Amaryllis. Team USA won the series 2-0, with a 16-9 Overpass, and a 16-5 Vertigo.
Women's Team USA will be against Brazil, who also won their first match against Hong Kong 2-0. The remaining team in Team USA's group is the Netherlands, which has two players from NIP Impact, one of the top teams from the European women's scene.
The women's competition is very different from the men's format-wise. While the men's tournament consists of four groups of six teams and played BO1 during that stage, the women's edition has just two groups with five teams and all games are BO3.
Both tournaments have been plagued with a lack of information, as the official IESF stream only shows one game at a time with the men's competition getting priority. All other games receive little to no attention, except a few which are being streamed by content creators from their respective countries. Adding to that, it's impossible to check stats for the games, even the ones being streamed.
