Liquid collapse out of IEM Rio
It was a brutal way to end their short time in Rio, as Liquid was eliminated on day two of IEM Rio 2024. The international roster was within just a few rounds of qualifying for the playoffs last night against Natus Vincere, but now they must say goodbye as they collapse out of the tournament, and FaZe ends their time in Brazil.
The series began on Liquid's pick of Inferno in a match that could not have gone worse. While Liquid looked hot to start things off, FaZe soon picked up steam as they claimed a slight 7-5 advantage to end the half.
The second half got even worse as FaZe continued their hot streak despite losing the pistol and closed out a dominant 13-6 map victory.
Having already lost their own map pick, Liquid were scrambling to even the score on Dust2 but couldn't get it together. Liquid found themselves down 5-2 to open up the first half but somehow were able to even the score as they looked to turn on the jets with their T-side in the second half.
Things just wouldn't go their way however as FaZe held strong and speedran into a 13-7 map victory to take the series 2-0.
Liquid have now been eliminated from IEM Rio and will now go to the BLAST World Final for their next event before the Major finally takes place later this year.
