A treacherous path to playoffs

Liquid let chances slip away in Vitality loss

This one stings.

Team Liquid had several opportunities to take both Anubis and Nuke in their second-round match against Vitality, but they were unable to close out against the French core, necessitating another win against Spirit to reach the playoffs.

On Liquid’s pick of Anubis, Vitality looked poised to run away with the opening map in the second half, with six straight T side rounds propelled by Lotan "Spinx" Giladi and Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut.

But Liquid rallied, thanks to big numbers from yesterday’s leading man Keith "NAF" Markovic, eventually sending the map to overtime. Vitality started OT with another strong T side showing though, running Liquid over in four straight rounds to take Anubis 16-12.

Like in their series v. Spirit though, Liquid started strong on their opponent’s pick, jumping out to a 9-3 lead on their CT side of Nuke. Only ZywOo showed up for Vitality in the first half, but Liquid let several chances to close out Nuke slip away, as Shahar "flameZ" Shushan lit up Liquid late in the second half.
