NRG win back-to-back Revival Cups
NRG are shaping up to be considered one of the best teams in North America right now with a domestic dominance that is hard to compete against. Now, until they start consistently qualifying for events out of the continent they can't claim that crown, but they are working their way there.
Last weekend, against a crowded field, NRG once again proved dominant, dropping only one map en route to repeating their NA Revival Series wins. The secured the August NA Revival Series #2 with a thrilling win against Elevate in the final, but this time they handled things just a bit quicker.
There were also some surprises on the weekend as Legacy lost two tight maps to FLUFFY AIMERS in the quarterfinals, while BOSS continued to impress with new boy Gavin "fruitcupx" Norman helping lead his team to a solid win over the 2022 reformed timbermen.
Nouns were easily the second-best team overall in the competition. They made their way to the finals against NRG after easily dispatching Kinship and BOSS in 2-0 sweeps.
NRG turned up in the final with Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte, showing that he still had the magic from yesteryear. It was a back-and-forth match on Anubis to open up the series, as NRG took command with an 8-4 first-half CT-side, but the Nouns soon tied things up at 8-8 when they got the chance to hold firm on the defense. Ultimately, NRG pulled away thanks to a stronger T-side, but it was a close 13-10 victory nonetheless.
Nuke was not too much of a contest as Nouns struggled on their own map pick. Nick "nitr0" Cannella once again proved that he deserved his spot in NA CS after a break in VALORANT as he topped the charts with 16 kills, a 101.8 ADR, and a 1.63 HLTV Rating. The squad would come away with a 13-3 run and secure the second Revival event.
