AVANGAR complete comeback against Misfits
Day 4 of the ELEAGUE Major Boston Qualifier kicked off with Misfits taking on the AVANGAR. After the veto process was complete, the chosen battleground was Cache, a map which seemingly favored the CIS side.
The French-American side opened up the festivities by taking the pistol on their CT-side, courtesy of a CZ-75 triple kill from in-game leader Sean "seang@res" Gares.
After Misfits took the anti-eco, AVANGAR would come back with a three round streak — which would be their only consecutive round wins of the half. Powered by their French duo, Misfits ended the half with a 10-5 lead.
AVANGAR took the second pistol on their own CT-side, though it came down to a 1-on-1 situation. The follow-up round would also come down to a 1-on-1, but having seen themselves through these tense times, the Kazakhs brought the score back to 10-9.
Misfits were finally able to stop the CIS onslaught, taking two rounds of their own. Undaunted, AVANGAR again fought back, and a spectacular AWP triple kill from Timur "buster" Tulepov evened the score at 12-12.
With AVANGAR sitting at 15-12, Misfits made a desperate push out mid. An even exchange of frags there saw two players left standing on either side, and François "AmaNEk" Delaunay was able to secure the round for his team. Unfortunately for the French-American side, the inevitable had only been delayed, as AVANGAR took the following round, and the map.
The result sees Misfits eliminated from the event, whereas AVANGAR live to fight another day, and will now wait for the rest of the Round 4 matches to unfold. Coming up next is Liquid against Vega Squadron. Both teams currently sit at a 2-1 record.
