Former ATK duo promoted to NIP
Yesterday NIP announced that former ATK duo Gareth "MisteM" Ries and Daniel "sprayxd" Kogan had been called up to take over as IGL and assistant coach of the main NIP roster, replacing Alejandro "alex" Masanet and Fredrik "slap" Junbrant in the roles, respectively. The move sees the duo get the call up after eight months on Young Ninjas, where they worked with the Swedish organization's international academy project.
The changes to NIP's ranks comes after a fairly dismal period for the former titans of CS esports, seeing the squad fail to claim any significant results after ten months under the Spaniard's leadership.
For MisteM, his call up will see the South African IGL join an exclusive club alongside Johnny "JT" Theodosiou as the South Africans currently in the tier-one scene. Joining NIP is a significant achievement for the 22-year-old after years of grinding in the South African, North American, and European scenes. MisteM is most known to NA fans for his two years in NA alongside sprayxd, where the duo found success while playing with a number of notable NA players including future M80 duo Michael "Swisher" Schmid and Ethan "reck" Serrano.
MisteM's first big test with NIP will be to hopefully guide the team to the Perfect World Shanghai Major when the EU RMR B begins on November 21st.
