Wildcard fall to 3DMAX
Wildcard's run at ESL Pro League Season 20 has come to a close today, with the international lineup falling to the French 3DMAX squad in a 2-0 loss. With the loss, Wildcard exit the Maltese LAN with a 1-3 record, with losses to Spirit, 9z, and 3DMAX, and a win over KOI.
The series against 3DMAX began on Wildcard's map pick of Ancient, with the NA team starting their T-side in the lead after winning the pistol round and the following three rounds. Wildcard would then hold onto their lead, winning their T-side 7-5. After switching sides, this small lead quickly evaporated as 3DMAX won their own T-side pistol and the next two rounds. After this point, Wildcard really struggled to get back into the map as 3DMAX closed out Ancient 13-9.
Unfortunately, things went far worse for the squad on Inferno as 3DMAX launched into a dominant T-side, winning their second pistol of the series before powering to a 9-3 lead. 3DMAX would continue their dominant streak in the second half, winning the CT-side pistol to find ten before winning three of the next four rounds to close out Mirage 13-4.
Wildcard will now head home to continue their ESL Challenger League Season 48 campaign and to prepare for ESL Challenger Atlanta in October.
