Party Astronauts, LAG favorites at IEM Rio 2024 NA Open Qualifier #2
As the final day of the second open qualifier is here, only the favorites remain to claim the last spot in the IEM Rio 2024 North American Closed Qualifier. Teams such as Party Astronauts, undefined, and FLUFFY AIMERS are just two series away from joining Liquid, Legacy, and NRG in the last hurdle before booking tickets to Brazil.
After losing in the grand final of the first open qualifier, Party Astronauts are hoping to finally secure their place in the closed qualifier despite some close matches during the early stages of this OQ #2. LAG, who lost to NRG in the semifinals of OQ #1 are also coming in strong to this last day, in what can be seen as the weaker side of the bracket.
On the other hand, undefined and FLUFFY AIMERS will have to battle it out with each other to start their second day of OQ #2 just to see who will face either PA or InControl before advancing to the finals.
It's been an interesting second open qualifier, even more so when taking into account that only three of the eight teams were able to reach the quarterfinals during OQ #1, them being Party Astronauts, InControl, and LAG.
The quarterfinal series are scheduled to start today at 06:00PM and the match-ups are as follows:

Only one spot remains to be filled in the IEM Rio 2024 North American Closed Qualifier, which is set to start on August 31st, featuring the winner of OQ #2, NRG, Legacy, and Liquid. From there, only one team will fly to Rio de Janeiro.
