jks: "I think ultimate has all qualities of a great player"
Ahead of Team Liquid's debut at BLAST Fall Groups 2024, their Aussie member Justin "jks" Savage spoke with Monster energy about the new team, expectations, and the new constellation of players he is working with.
In the interview, jks praised Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken's aptitude for leading, saying he has "a natural feel for the game", although he does expect early hiccups. He also noted that Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis is second in calling priority in the team due to his recent experience as an IGL and an aggressive bastion of the team.
He hopes to appear in front of the Cologne audience, but harbors no expectations to win the whole event like he did last year. Comparing Liquid to that championship winning G2 lineup, jks noted the differences between the teams, saying G2 was "a lineup full of star players", but on Liquid, everyone takes the burden of fragging with a more team oriented play style.
When talking about joining Liquid, jks pointed out two main factors, the organization and the players. With such a storied organization, jks felt at home in the professional atmosphere, and playing with legends such as Twistzz made it an easy decision. He also revealed that Torbjørn "mithR" Nyborg's Apeks looked at picking jks up at one point, so he has some small experience with the Danish coach.
Finally, as to ultimate, the biggest question mark on this roster, jks had high praise for the young kid, "I think he has all qualities of a great player if he keeps working hard the way he has been. He of course needs more experience at big events, but overall I think if he just focuses on one event at the time and focuses on improving himself within the team he'll be in a great position. He should try not to put too much pressure on himself straight away coming into a team like Liquid."
Liquid have already had a great event at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, having taken down Virtus.pro and now NAVI in a close series. They now await their next opponent in the finals of Group D.
