Victorum top Limitless Cash Cup
This weekend, Los Angeles-based esports organization Limitless hosted a $300 cash cup on FACEIT, taking advantage of a relatively quiet period in the CS2 calendar to host the latest in a series of grassroots events. Despite the relatively modest prizepool, the Limitless Cash Cup saw a very strong turnout, with 49 teams signed up for the weekend event, including Victorum, WICKED, FlyQuest RED, and Nouns.fe.
After two days of play, when the smoke cleared the top four teams in the cup consisted of ESEA Advanced squads Victorum, MCS, WICKED, and an ESEA Main team called moggers. Victorum's lineup for the cup featured two stand-ins, with Andrew "Andrew" Burrell and Matthew "MJB" Bussell standing in for Max "SolGoat" Wallace and Devin "AtomiK" Ferrell, while recent Mythic addition Austin "Austin" Meadows reunited with his former WICKED teammates.
The first of these four teams to be sent packing was moggers, with the team being felled 13-5 by Victorum on Anubis. The next match in the lower bracket saw Victorum continue their winning ways as they swept WICKED aside with a 13-4 win on Ancient and a 13-2 win on Anubis.
This win set up a rematch for Victorum against MCS, having previously lost to the squad in the upper bracket semifinals. The grand finals started with Victorum taking Dust2 13-6 before MCS answered back with a strong 13-3 on Anubis. The final map of the event ultimately went the distance, with 42 kills being required from Andrew for Victorum to crawl over the finish line in overtime to take Ancient 19-15 over MCS.
The top four for the Limitless Cash Cup consists of:
