Mythic, Detonate, Northern Forces, and Eros advance in Relegation upper bracket
The opening round of ESEA Premier Season 38 Relegation has concluded with an even split of Premier and Advanced sides continuing forward in the upper bracket. With the first round results in the books, a number of players will be playing in tonight's matches with a Premier debut on the line.
The sole Canadian side in ESEA Premier Season 38 Relegation forfeited their opening match to Mythic.
Detonate exploded out of the gate with a comfortable win on their own pick of Inferno, but the subsequent map pick of Big Chillin, Dust2, was an absolute slugfest. Five players finished in excess of forty frags between the two teams in the triple-overtime affair, led by David "Delta9" Shafer of Detonate, who finished with 49 kills.
Northern Forces jumped all over Third Impact, who were playing with their coach, Calvin "becker" Becker, in place of Keanu "DaneJoris" Reyes. To their credit, Third Impact kept it close on Mirage, where they lost in thirty rounds before getting blown out on Inferno. Northern Forces left the Third Impact offense out in the cold, with the ESEA Advanced side claimed 11 and 13 rounds on their CT-sides of Mirage and Inferno, respectively. Reece "Wilky" Wilkerson led all players with 46 kills in the win for Northern Forces.
Eros had the most convincing win of the night, allowing Synthetic to manufacture just sixteen rounds in the series en route to an upper bracket matchup with Northern Forces. The winning effort was spearheaded by strong performances from Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore and Jason "Jason" Garcia, who finished with 48 and 47 frags, respectively.
