Bad News Bears pocket first ESEA Cash Cup of the Fall with win over Party Astronauts
The first ESEA Cash Cup of the autumn is complete and Bad News Bears have now won a Cash Cup in every season with their reverse sweep of Party Astronauts in the grand final. Northern Forces swept Touch Point to claim third place.
In the earlier rounds a number of ESEA Premier teams fell sooner than anticipated, clearing the path for ESEA Advanced sides to make the podium. GGPR and Strife both forfeited their opening matchups, while Triumph and Third Impact were eliminated by Touch Point and If You Don't Know, Now You Know, respectively. The latter team was one of the storylines of the tournament, a mix made up of familiar faces in the North American scene including Ricky "floppy" Kemery, Michael "Grim" Wince, Rahul "curry" Nemani, Carson "nosraC" O'Reilly, and Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov. They gave Bad News Bears a run for their money, but fell 16-13 on Inferno.
Northern Forces forfeited their semifinal match against Bad News Bears as a result of not being able to field a complete lineup.
Party Astronauts utterly dismantled Touch Point in the other semifinal. The ESEA Advanced side managed just 5 rounds total in the series as Party Astronauts barely had any more trouble than Bad News Bears did with their forfeit win in the other semifinal. Gage "Infinite" Green finished with 48 kills in 37 rounds for Party Astronauts in the win.
Reece "Wilky" Wilkerson finished with 52 kills in a two-map sweep of Touch Point in the third-place decider series, a feat nearly rivaled by Noah "flixxy" French who finished with a heroic 49 frag performance, though it was all for naught in the end for his side. Northern Forces claimed $2,000 dollars for their trouble over the past weekend.
Party Astronauts came out swinging and absolutely battered Bad News Bears on Nuke, but then Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman's side grinded out a hard-fought win on Inferno, and then blew Party Astronauts into orbit on Dust2 with a lopsided win of their own. Paytyn "junior" Johnson led all players with 65 series kills, while Infinite led the way for Party Astronauts once again, this time with 58 frags.
The final standings of ESEA Cash Cup Autumn 1 are:
1. Bad News Bears - $9,000
2. Party Astronauts - $4,000
3. Northern Forces - $2,000
4. Touch Point
5-8. If you don't know now you know
5-8. Uptime United

The ESEA Cash Cup series with continue with ESEA Cash Cup Autumn 2, which is yet to be announced at the time of publication.
