GooseBreeder on NA Impact scene: "I don't feel TSM Shimmer are going to take our throne from us"
FlyQuest RED's run at the ESL Impact Season 5 Finals was not what the team expected, as they were eliminated in the group stage following losses to BIG EQUIPA and HSG. However, the team's captain, Mounira "GooseBreeder" Dobie, says these losses came down to very small errors and she is sure the team will come back stronger next season. Besides the Impact LAN Finals, the weekend was special for GooseBreeder as she also had the chance to play in the IEM Dallas 2024 showmatch against her boyfriend, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, beating him while representing the Impact scene on the big stage.
Following this showmatch, GooseBreeder spoke to Dust2.us' Jeffrey "Mnmzzz" Moore about showmatch, FlyQuest RED's run in the ESL Impact Season 5 Finals, Coline "Kaoday" Le Floc'h becoming the team's IGL, and her expectations for Season 6, among other topics.

To start, how was your experience in the showmatch today?
The showmatch was fun. There were some big chickens at some point and we played basically Inferno in different iterations from 1.6, Source, CS:GO. It was fun because I got to play against EliGE and I got to play on a big stage because I've never played on a stage like that before. Even though it was a silly showmatch it was still fun for me.
You didn't just play EliGE, you beat him on stage. Is that something you are going to lord over him?
I will probably find fun timings to message with him and yeah it was fun beating him obviously. I didn't really expect to, I know it was a silly game but I still get to laugh about it at the end.
Taking a look at FlyQuest RED's run here in Dallas I wanted to ask about the loss against HSG. It started in such a dominant position but then slipped away from the team. What do you think went wrong in that series?
That game was very winnable for us. It obviously sucked and people were disappointed, but ultimately we're a very good team where we stay together even in hard times. You all went through the event and talked about it, got everything off our chest, but ultimately it was a positive experience for us regardless of the result.
We really showed that we're a team to be feared and honestly winning the game versus BIG or HSG was a difference of 1%. Those games were so close and they were definitely in our grasp to take. We let it slip but we are pretty new with this five. I think we are doing exceptionally well in terms of showing the skill we have on this team. Our floor is very high so consistency is going to be a lot easier to achieve with this lineup.
I have no doubt that we're going to keep building our floor and raising our ceiling and that come next Impact we're going to keep pushing and do everything we can to make it out of groups but go as far as we can. We definitely think we have what it takes, and I know it's a bit of a broken record coming from me, but I do have a lot of faith in this team and if you watch the games it shows we played a lot of rounds well and we made small mistakes that we are going to clean up for the future.
It's just building our floor so in the future these mistakes are very rare if they ever happen at all and just just keep building our fundamentals. I think we'll get a lot better very quickly with this lineup.
Next ESL Impact season NA will only have one spot in the finals. TSM Shimmer Empathy thinks her team has a good chance of taking that spot next season, but what do you think about the rivalry and whether the fight for the spot will be close next season?
I don't think so. Obviously they're not a bad team by any means, we play each other so much that they get familiar with how we play but ultimately we're always the better team at the end of the day. They can keep improving but it's not like we are sitting on our butts. We're going to keep improving and we're improving at a pretty rapid pace.
They're a competitor, they need to think they can beat us and they should, but we're going to keep getting better and we close it out every time we play them. I don't feel they're going to take our throne from us. We're going to keep fighting and getting better, and we're going to secure that slot and that's always our mindset.
We're going to keep in our lane and keep doing us but they should feel like they could beat us. I think it's a good thing and it sucks that we only have one slot. I would like to see more tournaments and other events.
Thunderpick just held an event to qualify for the main qualifier and we played in that. We played Shimmer and a few other teams. I would love to see more of that for NA and more NA tournaments in general would be very. The region is trying so I'd really like to see that.
I'd love to see more events and in a perfect world some LANs because it's going to be really hard to get LAN experience. Thankfully we have Fragadelphia and that's our goal to get to them, but I'd like to see more LANs for sure.
