The Zeus received an unannounced nerf in the latest CS2 patch
While Valve's latest big update to Counter-Strike 2 included a number of big changes to the game including Dust2's return to the map pool, a left-handed viewmodel, and changes to Inferno, one change snuck through without so much as a mention in the patch notes. First spotted by Reddit user /u/Chicag0Ben, the Zeus x27, the game's signature madcap weapon, has received a number of stats changes that have added up to a minor nerf for the lightning cannon.
Taking a look at Chicag0Ben's findings, the majority of the changes either align the gun with other weapons in CS2, or change stats that are completely irrelevant for the one-shot weapon i.e. the weapon's spread. However, the gun has also had its effective range reduced from 190 Hammer units (the unit of length measurement used by Valve's Source Engine games) down to 120 Hammer Units, a 36.8% decrease in range.
With this, players may find it a bit hard to taser enemies, although the movement speed with the weapon equipped has been increased from 220 Hammer units per second to 230 Hammer units per second, which may help a bit.
It is unlikely we will see any pros complaining about the change, but it may knock the wind out the sails of those who have become holy terrors with the Zeus on Baggage and Shoots.
