Overpass swapped for Dust2; Valve adds left-hand viewmodel
After months and months of the community bemoaning its removal. Valve has finally re-added the left-handed view model back to Counter-Strike. The left-handed mode has been out of the game since the launch of Counter-Strike 2. Switching hands now, in-game, appears to require a quick switch animation. You must select your default hand in the main setting menu, and then you can assign a single key to change handedness (H on US keyboards by default).
Previously in CS:GO, switching hands was done via a console command and was purely visual, not requiring an animation. In CS:GO, switching hands was done via the cl_righthand command in the console, with setting the value to 1, giving a right-handed view model, and 0 giving a left-handed view model. It offered no competitive advantage in game other than a visual preference.
Pros have been asking for the left-handed view model for a while, with James Banks indicating at the time that he had spoken with Valve staff about the concerns. Finally, his and many others' prayers are answered.
There are more quality-of-life improvements in this update as well. The top right of the buy menu now shows the minimum funds you will have next round. Priming a grenade and holding will show a full-screen reticle after a short while. You can pick up teammates' dropped weapons in the buy menu. You can also set an alternate zoom level for the radar and assign a key to swab between the zoom levels during a round. In addition, party members can now play workshop and offline maps with you.
Finally, and most importantly, Overpass has been removed from the Active Duty pool and has been replaced by Dust2. In addition "significant updates" have been made to Inferno.
This change will come immediately, however tournaments in progress like ESL Pro League Season 19 have not yet commented on the change and if they will have to adjust going forward. It's likely that the organizer will continue using the previous map pool with Overpass included. However, ESL Challenger Melbourne has not yet started and could potentially make the change.
