Swisher: "I was telling malbsMd the whole time I want to hear him screaming"
M80 have claimed their first victory in Malta with a hard fought win over Sharks, sending the latter team into the last chance bracket. With this, M80 are one step closer to locking in playoffs at ESL Pro League Season 19 while also setting up a confrontation against G2 tomorrow.
Following M80's win over Sharks, Michael "Swisher" Schmid sat down for a brief interview with Hugo Byron and Harry "JustHarry" Russell to discuss the match, the addition of Elias "s1n" Stein, and the team's energy level.
JustHarry: Congrats on the win, a very hard fought series for both teams. Talk me through the energy behind M80 today? Despite some difficult moments, you guys were still having a good time even though it was really really close.
Our energy is one of the biggest things we have been focusing on, even going into the RMR last month. It is always important to have good energy to keep us in the game. Sometimes losing these tough rounds, like the eco's we lost on Vertigo and Mirage, can bring teams down.
It is super important to keep the energy high and keep people in it. I was telling malbs the whole time I want to hear him screaming. He is a super big energy guy and when he's feeling the game, he's deadly.
Hugo Byron: I got to catch you guys at the Americas RMR, got to cast you guys quite a bit all the way through, and the big elephant in the room was dephh playing. How has it been with the addition of s1n?
His calls have been great, we've been using some our old stuff that we had good success with before and we're adding that in. But his time on BIG and EU experience has brought another insight that he had with maNkz but lost.
It's been great to have an actual IGL back and it has been a good time rebuilding and it's been great.
JustHarry: He's playing really well as well, it's great to see him leading from the front. What did you think of Sharks and have you scrimmed them at all?
We've never played them before, but obviously beating paiN is a really big task. They've been looking really sharp recently. Going into today we had good prep last night and on our off day. The map pool went exactly as we expected.
We should've had better results on Mirage and a less tight game on Vertigo if we didn't lose a couple of rounds. They played really well and they caught us off on some of their CT-side Mirage rounds. We were reading them wrong and they were playing really well.
With their first win in their pocket, M80 will be taking on G2 tomorrow at 07:30AM.
