M80 players top Dust2.us' Team of the Month for April 2024

The new-look M80 was a joy to watch this month.

Dust2.us is returned once again with our Team of the Month for April to highlight some of the best players currently active in the NA scene. As always, Dust2.us' list consists of two professional-level players, two players from ESL Challenger League, and one standout name from ESEA Advanced. Additionally, the list includes the most impactful coach regardless of tier.

With ESL Challenger Melbourne, ESL Challenger League Season 47, ESL Pro League Season 47, and various qualifiers all running this month, there was a good amount of NA CS to follow, so let's see who made the cut.

Starting off with the pro circuit, Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa deserves all of the respect in the world for his massive performance at ESL Pro League Season 19. The Guatemalan rifler demonstrated that he can hang with some of the best in the world while posting an excellent 1.28 rating over 17 maps. On the Homefront, he also had an excellent month as M80 topped the Esports World Cup qualifier with malbsMd leading the charge with a 1.45 rating over ten maps as M80 bested Elevate, Legacy, and Liquid to claim a spot in the Saudi event.

In a similar vein, M80's new IGL, Elias "s1n" Stein, has already begun to prove himself as one of the best signings by a North American team in years. While it is still early days, s1n has already claimed a number of top 30 wins over G2 and Liquid while leading M80 as their new IGL. We expect this new arrangement to get every better over time as s1n continues to mold M80 into this vision of a spick-and-span European team. Moreover, s1n is a really capable fragger for an IGL, so what's not to love?

Moving onto the ECL level, Justin "FaNg" Coakley had a great month after linking up with BOSS post-NRG. With his new team FaNg put up a 1.36 rating over ten maps while helping BOSS to wins over LAG and FLUFFY AIMERS while splitting series with NRG and Mythic. BOSS are also currently in action in EPL S19 where FaNg is struggling a bit but the team still has the potential to turn things around tomorrow against NIP.

The other ECL players who is always the apple of Dust2.us' eye is Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk. While he only played four maps in ECL this month, he was absolutely dominant with a 1.76 rating. Abroad, while Party Astronauts failed to lock in any notable wins cxzi himself was in immaculate form, ending the event with a 1.30 rating despite his team failing to make it out of groups.

In ESEA Advanced Season 49, Legacy are predictably the best team in the league at the moment. The Brazilian imports have been tearing up the league and are in a strong position to win the season outright. In their dominant form it's hard to pick one player out of the quintet, but we landed on Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer for his work outside of Advanced. The former GODSENT player impressed this month with a 1.18 rating over eight maps in the EWC qualifier as his team's best performer.

Finally, looking at coaches, there are a lot of great options but we picked Rory "dephh" Jackson on account of his long watch as the team's fifth finally coming to an end after helping to pick his successor. Knowing the level of impact he has in the team, he undoubtedly played a role in picking s1n as the team's new IGL, and fans should be really thankful for the signing as it appears to be working out great thus far.
