IMPERIAL ADVANCE TO ELIMINATION STAGE
Brazil and the Americas region have earned one more spot for the Perfect World Shanghai Major as Imperial have taken down GamerLegion convincingly after three maps. Despite a heated discussion between Vinicius "VINI" Figueredo and Henrique "HEN1" Teles to end the first map, the Brazilians bounced back to knock out GamerLegion and secure a place in the second stage of the PGL Major Copenhagen.
Imperial started the series on Overpass CT-side, as GL picked the map. Overpass is a much-liked map for both squads, but the Europeans' T-side left much to be desired as Imperial would grab a 9-3 lead at the half. Roles were reversed come second half, as the score line was the same, this time with GamerLegion stopping Imperial nine times. After a heated discussion between HEN1 and VINI at the end of regulation, the Brazilians were unable to win a single round in overtime. 16-12 was the final score of Overpass.
On Mirage, Imperial T-side was a solid one, claiming six rounds in total against six from GamerLegion. It seemed the Brazilians had recovered from the tilting ending to Overpass and there was no bad blood between IGL and AWPer. The second half only reinforced that feeling, as Imperial got a flawless CT-side, ending the map 13-6 and tying the series.
The first half of Nuke, the decider, was very positive for Imperial. Even after losing the pistol round and the following two rounds, the Brazilians were solid on defense and only lost one more round throughout that half, heading to the T-side with an 8-4 lead. Despite losing yet another pistol, GL would not win the following round as HEN1 won a crucial post-plant clutch. After that, Imperial went on to claim an almost flawless second half, winning the series after a 13-5 Nuke.
