Legacy fall at the last hurdle
Legacy and TheMongolz met in the 2-2 bracket, after a surprisingly good run from the Brazilians and an underwhelming one from the Mongolian squad. In the do-or-die series, Legacy couldn't find answers to stop Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren and his calls on Ancient, but TheMongolz were able to stop Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato's plans on the offensive side of Anubis.
Legacy are now eliminated from the PGL Copenhagen Major, but the Brazilians can be proud of their run, having beaten FURIA and Apeks. As for the Asian team, they advance and claim one more spot for their region for the next major in Shanghai.
TheMongolz took a surprising route in the veto, picking Ancient, Legacy's favorite map at the Major, instead of their usual Nuke pick. Nonetheless, it seemed like the Asians had studied Legacy's offensive tactics on the map and, despite a mediocre first half T-side, with a 6-6 tie, The Mongolz were able to take a 1-0 lead after the defeated Legacy 13-9 on Ancient.
Going into Anubis, picked by Legacy, the Brazilians started on the less favorable CT-side but were able to win a respectable five rounds, going into the T-side with a 5-7 deficit. Things were not looking bad for them, but, once again, TheMongolz were very prepared for Legacy's calls and strats, as they only lost one round in the second half, winning the map 13-6 and the series 2-0.
With this win, Legacy are the first Brazilian to fall at the PGL Copenhagen Major and now Americas are looking at a max of 7 spots in the next Major. On the other hand, Asian CS can celebrate as TheMongolz's qualification means a third spot in the Perfect World Shanghai Major.
