No more LCQ for Europe

EU RMR LCQ scrapped as Europe lose RMR spot

Europe is guaranteed to lose a spot, no matter what.

As a result of today's matches at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, the slot allocation for the Perfect World Shanghai Major has changed. While the focus has been on the Americas region, a big change is also coming to Europe.

Following the Legacy v. The MongolZ match, Europe will lose one of its seventeen spots at the Major, which will go to the winning team's region. Additionally, because Europe will have less than 17 spots, the Last Chance Qualifier will be scrapped, with the A and B RMRs sufficient to determine all of Europe's Major-bound teams.

The Last Chance Qualifier was added to the European RMR cycle after the IEM Rio 2022 Major when the Americas lost one spot to Europe after 9z, Imperial, 00 Nation, and Evil Geniuses failed to advance out of the Challengers Stage. The LCQ was used for both the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 Paris Major and the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.

Depending on tomorrow's results, the Shanghai Major could see Europe retain anywhere between 14-16 spots while the Americas and Asia could lay claim to 5-8 and 2-3 spots, respectively.

Tomorrow's action kicks off at 08:00AM with Legacy v. TheMongolz. Imperial v. GamerLegion will be the second matchup of the day, while FURIA v. SAW will finish out the Opening Stage of the PGL Copenhagen Major.
