Recon 5 sign Rugratz; RZU and cJ replace tweiss and Turismo
Rugratz have been signed by Recon 5 ahead of the start of ESEA Premier Season 36 on January 18th. Along with their signing, the lineup has undergone a significant shakeup, with Tyler "tweiss" Weiss and Michael "Turismo" Haas being swapped out for Jeff "RZU" Ngo and Christopher "cJ" Jones.
The departure of tweiss comes as a result of the player announcing he received a revised school schedule that that would limit his ability to compete in Season 36. In his place RZU has rejoined the team, with him and Koby "kobruh" Higgs being the two players from last season necessary to retain the spot in Premier.
As for Turismo, David "cynic" Polster told Dust2.us that the team decided to replace him as they believe cJ is a better overall fit for the lineup as well as Turismo having scheduling issues of his own. With cJ joining the team, this new Recon 5 lineup closely resembles the Rugratz mixteam that competed in DreamHack Masters Winter, albeit with Dominick "JazzPimp" Dimpfel in place of Danny "cxzi" Strzelczyk.
This moves marks Recon 5's return to CS:GO after parting ways with their previous roster in July, citing financial difficulties from COVID-19 as their reason from pulling out of the scene at the time.
With this new lineup, Recon 5 are now:
- Koby "kobruh" Higgs
- David "cynic" Polster
- Dominick "JazzPimp" Dimpfel
- Jeff "RZU" Ngo
- Christopher "cJ" Jones
Recon 5 are currently set to compete in the qualifier for DreamHack Open January, which is set to begin on January 20th.
