MDL teams clean up in ESEA's daily Christmas Cups*
Prior to last weekend's Cash Cup ESEA ran a series of daily, standalone cups for the community that used a variety of maps that were not in the active map pool. Hate's Chess Club came away with two victories in these best-of-one cups and fourth fifths of GGPR won a third.
The first of the holiday events featured mirrored maps. just4fun (lowrider, v1c, jeorgesnorts, LEARSI, convolk) beat Stooner, nwg crew, and Killpo Is So Old before they met ESEA Advanced side fiji's bag chasers (REAL, sacrifice, fiji, ikari, kirai) in the grand final. The largely GGPR side won that match 16-9 on Vertigo, but "REAL" led all players with 31 kills. timbermen also participated in the event but lost to Killpo Is So Old 16-12 on Train right before they would have encountered just4fun.
The second of the holiday events featured the standard map pool decked out in Christmas decorations. fiji's bag chasers reached their second daily grand final in a row but fell to Hate's Chess Club 16-6 on Overpass. Nick "hate" Young led all players with 24 frags in the final match.
Day three featured current maps from Operation Broken Fang as well as some old maps from past operations (Santorini, Season, Ancient, Seaside, and Engage). Hate's Chess Club defeated UPROAR and Dust2.us alumnus Max "SolGoat" Wallace in the grand final, 16-11 on Seaside. hate top fragged for the second day in a row with 26 eliminations.
The fourth day was all Cobblestone all the time. fiji's bag chasers reached their third grand final of the week, but their match against redhair has not occurred yet.
The week culminated in Yeah defeating RBG 2-1 to win the second ESEA Winter Cash Cup.

*Since publication Dust2.us has learned that the third time was indeed the charm for fijis bag chasers, as their opponent in the grand final, redhair, forfeited the fourth event's grand final because one of their players had a scrim to attend.
