Swole Patrol defeat Yeah for second ESEA Summer Cash Cup victory
The third ESEA Summer Cash Cup has come to a close, seeing Swole Patrol notch their second win in a row following a 2-1 victory over Yeah in the finals.
Even with the short notice for the event, this iteration enjoyed a strong turnout with New England Whalers, Third Impact, Triumph, RBG, and Yeah being among the 80 teams that signed up for this iteration.
The first three rounds of the bracket were largely uneventful with the only notable upset seeing MDL squad Third Impact bested by Ryan "notorious" Gordon's Water Articulate AF 16-12 on Mirage.
Continuing into round four, Rebirth were the second MDL lineup to face the music as Front managed to send them packing with a 22-18 overtime victory on Nuke.
In round five MDL squads started to meet, with Triumph kicking off the action as they dispatched Sixth Gear 16-5 on Overpass. RBG were the next team to be eliminated after pushing New England Whalers to their limit, with the latter squad taking Nuke in overtime 19-17.
The remainder of round five was incredibly one-sided as Kinship dispatched Front 16-4 while Yeah crushed Eclipse 16-1.
In round six the largest upset of the cup took place as New England Whalers managed to best Triumph 16-13 on Mirage thanks in part to a standout performance from IGL Ben "ben1337" Smith. As for the match between Kinship and Yeah, it was a relatively one-sided affair with Yeah winning Mirage 16-9.
Moving into the semifinals, Swole Patrol faced off against New England Whalers, with the Whalers striking the first blow as they won Dust2 16-9 before Swole Patrol struck back, winning Inferno 16-4 before closing out Nuke 16-8.

The next series saw Mythic face off against Yeah with a modified roster as Donovan "zNf" Froid and Alex "Mauisnake" Ellenberg stood-in for Adam "Polen" Polen and Eric "adreN" Hoag. Things were looking good for the stream team on Overpass as Kaitlin "Keiti" Boop powered them to a close 16-14 victory to start the series in the lead. However, the match began to unravel for Mythic as the Brazilians powered up, crushing Mythic 16-5 and 16-6 on Dust2 and Train to advance to meet Swole Patrol in the finals.

The grand finals started off with Yeah clinching a close 16-14 victory over Swole Patrol on Mirage, with a massive effort from Rodrigo "RCF" Figueiredo helping push the Brazilians over the line.
Moving into Nuke, Yeah's momentum from the first map was quickly snuffed out as Swole Patrol mounted a strong T-side, ending the half up 11-4 before rapidly climbing up to 16-7 to even the series up and force the action onto Train.
With the series tied up, Yeah saw a brief resurgence as they battled Swole Patrol in the opening half, managing to end it only down by a single round. Despite their strong opening, after switching sides Yeah rapidly began to fall behind Swole Patrol as Maxim "wippie" Shepelev and co. only conceded three more rounds before claiming a 16-10 victory.
