PGL updates NA Open Qualifiers start time based on community feedback

Protesting doesn't always work, but it did this time.

After some community members expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the start time of the Americas RMR North American Open Qualifiers, PGL decided to push it back five hours. After the update, the Americas RMR NA OQs will start at 09:00PM.

In a discussion that started only a day before the qualifiers started, members of the NA CS community voiced their negative opinion, asking PGL to alter the schedule of the North American qualifiers, due to the events starting during work and school hours.

Some thought it was too late to ask the tournament organizer to make such a major change, but due to the persistence of the North American community members, PGL showed they were listening and decided to delay the start time of the opening games. The main voice behind the demand to change the schedule was Max "SolGoat" Wallace, Wanted Goons' IGL.

The delay of the event start now allows many players, who would otherwise still be at school or at work, to join the big event and get a chance to, even if it is highly improbable for most, reach the Closed Qualifier or even the Americas RMR.

This is just one of the recent issues that the North American CS community has been raising, as the fact that two Brazilian teams are joining the NA qualifiers, despite not playing any North American events during the rest of the year, is also being discussed.

With the update, the first PGL Major Copenhagen Americas RMR North American Open Qualifier starts today at 09:00PM, also giving more time for teams to sign up. You can do so here.
