JOTA, benched by Imperial, will be playing the NA qualifiers for LOS + oNe

LOS + oNe's Brazilian roster to compete in RMR NA Open Qualifier

Outside of having infrastructure in Las Vegas, the team have no ties to NA.

Teams are starting to sign up for the upcoming PGL Major Copenhagen RMR Open Qualifiers and although the North American qualifiers have a low number of registered teams, there is a surprising entry; the reported Brazilian squad of LOS + oNe.

The organization was last seen in North America in April 2023, when LOS + oNe put their Counter-Strike division on hold after the departure of talismanic player Pedro "Maluk3" Campos. Since then, LOS + oNe had been quiet in CS until December 29th, when Dust2 Brasil revealed the organization was in talks to sign a completely new roster for 2024.

LOS + oNe's new roster primarily consists of benched Fluxo, Imperial, and Case players, with Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian and Leonardo "leo_drk" Oliveira being the most well-known names in this new project. Additionally, former Sharks player Jhonatan "jnt" Silva is set to be the team's coach after ending his playing career in 2023.

LOS + oNe overall consists of:

  • Brazil Allan "history" Lawrenz

  • Brazil Henrique "t9rnay" Menacho

  • Brazil Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian

  • Brazil Leonardo "leo_drk" Oliveira

  • Brazil Paulo "short" Ballardini

  • Brazil Jhonatan "jnt" Silva (Coach)

As previously mentioned, this squad is set to compete in the North American open qualifiers, despite the the fact the lineup has never competed in NA and is comprised entirely of Brazilian players. The official 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major Rulebook states that for any team looking to participate in another subregion, they need a valid reason and that PGL will review each case individually.

Dust2.us contacted PGL and confirmed that LOS + oNe was eligible to play in the North American qualifiers, however the organizer did not explain the reasoning that LOS + oNe provided which would allow them to compete in the subregion.

The team will travel to the organization's Las Vegas base of operations with the main purpose of playing the qualifiers for the Americas RMR, as it is not known yet if there are plans to stay after the event. According to Dust2 Brasil, all players, except short, are playing for LOS + oNe on loan from their respective organizations, Imperial, Fluxo, and Case.

The signups for the PGL Major Copenhagen 2023 Americas RMR North American Open Qualifier #1 are still open until Monday 03:14PM and you can register here.

Didnt sojo what ever was a example? Tbh I don't hate them I fw team one but yeah you can't do this your in SA leagues now so you got no tie to NA therefore against the rules I believe and there is closed quali now sure NA open quali might be easier but the closed isn't

Maybe they've convinced PGL that they intend to stay in NA, play in ECL again or something.

I agree that the SoJoga precedent makes it seem like this shouldn't be allowed.

They got permission, they did everything right. It seems... wrong. oNe has a history in the region, but idk. Seems exploitative.

Just the fact that they are a new, unproven team makes me agree, but they could surprise I guess.

I think what is more interesting is that they decided to go to a region with only seven RMR spots instead of the 8

Yeah, but for a difference of one spot, they only have to fight through 66 teams in the NA open qualifier versus the 136 teams currently signed up or the SA qualifier.
