Esports Arena Oakland closes permanently
Esports Arena's Oakland location will not reopen after originally shuttering its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been revealed.
Details regarding the situation were sparse in the announcement, with the statement referring to "unfortunate circumstances" as the reason Esports Arena Oakland would not reopen. However, it is likely that the financial situation for Esports Arena following the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as high operating costs in California were a factor in the closing, as is the case for numerous other chains that have recently taken to closing their locations, including Starbucks.
Esports Arena Oakland opened in April 2018, and played host to a handful of offline events in CS:GO since. For those in the area, the statement posted by Esports Arena directs players towards its location in Roseville as a replacement, while the status of the Santa Ana location currently remains unknown.
The Roseville location is currently slated to reopen on July 2nd alongside Esports Arena Spokane, while Esports Arenas in Orlando, Kansas City, Detroit, Scottdale, Cincinnati, Raleigh, Nashville, Austin, and Chicago have all already reopened their doors to the public.
