How to play Counter-Strike 2 on a Mac

A workaround has been found.

Initially, Dust2.us was the first to confirm that users and fans of the game would not be able to play Counter-Strike 2 on a Mac. While that was a dismay to only a few within the community, those affected felt the impact. Now, a tool will allow users to play the game on macOS.

A program called CrossOver, developed by CodeWeavers and based on an open-source Windows compatibility layer called Wine, will allow users to play Counter-Strike 2. The program, which costs $74.00 is also available for a free trial for those looking to see if it might be worth the investment. Certainly, it's cheaper to purchase this than buying a Windows machine.

For those looking to play, they will need to have macOS Ventura and Sonoma on either an Apple Silicon and Intel processor. The developers used this when testing the game and have found it works.

To access to the game, the website says to search for Counter-Strike 2 within CrossOver and click "install". You will need the latest CrossOver version, 23.6, to make the game work. Dust2.us has not been able to test the game at this time independently.

If you already have CrossOver, you can download the latest update here.
