What to expect from Complexity v. Monte
The first big Counter-Strike 2 LAN is set to start in Sydney today, October 15th, for Americans, and tomorrow, October 16th, for Europeans and Asians. Complexity's first CS2 match will be against their last CS:GO European opponent, Monte.
The game is scheduled to start at 12:30AM, but with this being the first big CS2 LAN, there are a lot of factors that can delay the games or bring them forward in the schedule.
Revenge is best served cold
Complexity was on fire during the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 18, only losing to G2 in a game where they could have won. Unfortunately, during playoffs, they encountered an even hotter Monte that went from the Last Chance Stage to the semifinal of the event, besting FNATIC, Complexity, and Vitality in the playoffs. Today is the chance for Complexity to get revenge and relegate Monte to another lower bracket.

Inconsistent Monte
Although the team had a great run in ESL Pro League Season 18, it showed immense flaws and looked exploitable at some points. The fact that IEM Sydney 2023 will be Monte's first CS2 real test adds even more inconsistency to the squad, meaning they can look less than ideal today.

Previous Matchups
The one and only time these two teams met was during ESL Pro League Season 18 playoffs during the round of 16. Monte beat Complexity 2-1 in a very balanced series. This will be the first time the teams meet in CS2.
Likely Vetoes
This being the first time the teams play a CS2 official match, it is unknown if both will try to avoid maps with sound issues, like Nuke and Vertigo, which can change the veto a lot. Also, it is a Bo1 match, meaning both teams will try to find a balance between exploiting one another and feeling comfortable. With all this in mind, I still believe either Nuke or Anubis will be played, with Nuke being the slight favorite.
