Bad News Bears' third iteration takes shape with RZU
After having to play with two stand-ins to start their ESL Challenger League campaign, and a false start with Jonathan "Jonji" Carey, Bad News Bears have settled on their full five-man lineup moving forward, seeing Bad News Bears alumnus Jeff "RZU" Ngo come out of retirement to join the squad.
RZU was last seen competing in late 2022 with Brazen before that squad shuttered due to multiple players electing to focus on school. Since then, he had been completely inactive outside of picking up FPL again in June. In a somewhat ironic twist, despite being the most recent addition to Bad News Bears, RZU is the sole member with ties to a previous iteration of the team, having played on Josh "shinobi" Abastado and Peter "ptr" Gurney's first iteration of the team.
With their roster settled, Bad News Bears can now hopefully start to pick up steam as a result. Despite being fairly star-studded, the team have only found modest success in the past three months. While this can be attributed largely to having a revolving door roster with stand-ins and the squad being more casual in nature, having Josh "steel" Nissan and co. back in the mix as a top squad is an exciting prospect.
Bad News Bears now consists of:
-
Umar "Umar" Qaiser
-
Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek
-
Joshua "steel" Nissan
-
Brandon "bew" Roberts
-
Jeff "RZU" Ngo
-
Michael "MaestrO" Bulostin (Coach)
Bad News Bears will face off against Take Flyte tonight in ESL Challenger League Season 46. Unfortunately Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek is set to miss the match due to a personal matter, necessitating another match with a stand-in for Bad News Bears.
