steel's Bad News Bears loses key member
Dust2.us has confirmed that Jonathan "Jonji" Carey has parted ways with the Bad News Bears mixteam that formed in mid-July. The departure of Jonji comes after a mixed period for the third iteration of the storied NA tag, with the team finding modest success in standalone cups while struggling to find their footing in ESL Challenger League Season 46, currently sitting with a 0-4 record in the league.
Part of this recent struggle can be attributed to the team needing to field two stand-ins, Nick "nicx" Lee and Owen "SummY" Mustard, as stand-ins, with the duo posting 0.84 and 0.67 ratings over ten maps, respectively. However, it is also understood that this Bad News Bears squad has been more of a casual project for the team, with this also affecting the team's performance.
Despite it being a mixteam, Jonji's departure has reportedly come due to an incongruity in how serious Jonji's teammates view the project compared to the Canadian. According to Umar "Umar" Qaiser, the team elected to part ways with Jonji to search for someone who could commit to match days and to a couple of days of practice per week. Dust2.us reached out to Jonji to get his point of view on his exit from BNB, however he did not respond to a request for comment.
Bad News Bears currently consists of:
-
Josh "steel" Nissan
-
Brandon "bew" Roberts
-
Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek
-
Umar "Umar" Qaiser
-
Nick "nicx" Lee (Stand-in)
-
Owen "SummY" Mustard (Stand-in)
