Fnatic through to ECS playoffs with a strong win over OpTic
The final Group A game of today saw the two winning teams face off for a spot in the ECS playoffs. OpTic and Fnatic both expected a strong display as the two teams faced off on Cobblestone.
OpTic started the match on their T-side, running into the A-site and picking up the pistol round. But fnatic came back in their true form, picking up the forcebuy thanks to a mighty Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson ace, from which the Swedes took the advantage for the following two rounds. With the fifth round effectively being the first buy round, Fnatic kept on going to claim that round as well.
Fnatic were seemingly unstoppable, even when it came down to just Jesper "JW" Wecksell to clutch out a round for his team. Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson was the leading force throughout it all, as his side went 9:1. It took Kevin "HS" Tarn to claim an exceptional ace to put the buffers on their opponent, finally claiming a round outside of the pistol.
But Fnatic treated their opponents in a similar fashion to how OpTic treated mousesports, immediately resetting their opponents in the following rounds. From there Fnatic raced off into the half 13:2 up.
With everything resting on this pistol round for OpTic, it went disastrously wrong as Maikil "Golden" Selim raced into the B-site to start the round for his team. From there Fnatic cleaned up the required two rounds to secure their spot at the top of Group A, in a 16:2 domination.
With Fnatic now confirming their place in the semifinals, it leaves OpTic facing off in the Group A Decider match. The next game will see Group B begin, as Cloud9 and Astralis will face off at 14:00 EST.
