USA gets Bronze in World Finals
The United States had their backs against the walls, facing off against the one nation that put them into the lower-bracket in the first place, Argentina. The two sides had battled furiously in their first matchup with two maps going the entire distance. The rematch was poised to created fireworks once again as the USA looked for revenge.
The back-and-forth match got started on the USA's pick of Inferno where the Americans jumped out to a massive 12-3 offensive first half lead, completely overwhelming the Argentinian defenses. While the second half defense was a little scarier for Team USA as they let Argentina have seven rounds, they confidently closed out the first map 1-0 to take the lead in the series.
Now it was Argentina's turn to get in on the action as they chose to start on Mirage. For the US, they continued their momentum into the second map and even went ahead 8-5 while on their defense. However, that defense wouldn't hold too much longer as Argentina climbed back to 7-8 before carrying that momentum through to their own defense. Despite the USA showing up strong on their T-side for Inferno, it was sorely missing in the Mirage game as Argentina held strong to secure a 16-12 victory to tie it all up.
Finally, the USA and Argentina duked it out on Overpass. The Americans had a strong 5-0 start to the map, but Argentina slowly crept back into the game thanks to their strong T-side and were able to squeeze out a small 8-7 lead by the half. The second half would not go the USA's way as Argentina surged ahead on their defenses, stopping the Americans from being able to gather much more ground. Despite the best efforts, the USA would lose the map 16-11 and the series, 2-1 to finish in 3rd place.
