Nouns eliminated from CCT Online Finals
Nouns' run in the CCT Online Finals has come to an end after they were knocked out by Bad News Eagles in the second round of the lower bracket. After beating Brazilian side Sojoga in the previous round, the North American squad faced a big step up in competition facing off against a team that has made it to the Legends stage of the last three Majors.
Map one would be Nouns' pick of Overpass and a lackluster showing from the team gave little hope for them to be competitive across the rest of the series. The NA side managed to win just two of the opening ten rounds and despite stringing together three in a row towards the end of the half, they were still left with a hill to climb being 10-5 down switching to the CT side. Losing the pistol round only made things worse for Nouns and they could muster only two more rounds as they lost Overpass decisively 16-7.
Nouns came out fighting on Mirage posting seven rounds in a row to open up their CT side. The match evened out after that with the European side finding their rhythm and managing to close the gap to just three rounds with Nouns taking a 9-6 lead into the second half. Undeterred by the fightback Nouns secured the pistol and the following two rounds to extend their lead and got themselves to map point at 15-9. BNE produced another scary comeback as they pushed the North American squad to all thirty rounds but Nouns would eventually prevail taking the map 16-14 and forcing a third and final map.
Ancient would be the decider and unfortunately for Nouns, it started more like Overpass rather than Mirage as BNE raced into a comfortable 8-2 lead on their CT side. The NA side didn't roll over without a fight and managed to bring the score all the way back to 9-6, just three rounds behind the European side. Nouns' staunch defense tied up the game before they unbelievably dropped a round against Glocks and two flashbangs. Despite stealing a force buy round of their own, Nouns ran out of steam eventually falling to a 16-12 score ending their CCT Online Finals run.
With their elimination from CCT Nouns' time in Europe is over. No doubt the side will have taken valuable experience from their European excursion which they can hope to put into good practice when they return to American shores for their next event, ESL Challenger Season 46 North America.
