Just for Fun pug their way to Mythic Cup 5 victory
Mix Just For Fun have won Mythic Cup 5 after taking down Rugratz 2-0 in the grand finals. The Anthony "vanity" Malaspina-led squad faced little trouble over the course of the event, only conceding maps to Divine and eUnited.
In Just For Fun's first series of the day vanity squared off against his old team eUnited in a hard-fought series on Nuke, Mirage, and Dust2. The first half of Nuke saw Just For Fun end their CT-side three rounds ahead of eUnited thanks to a strong performance by Matthew "WARDELL" Yu.
However, after switching sides eUnited rallied and ran away with the map, only giving up two rounds before taking Nuke 16-11.
Moving onto Mirage, Just For Fun were back in control as they mounted a strong T-side, decisively winning the half with a 10-5 lead. After switching sides, eUnited attempted to regain the lead, narrowing the deficit to a single round before WARDELL once again put in a monster performance to secure the map 16-10.
With the series tied up, it was Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik's time to shine as Just For Fun put up a great CT-side to secure the half 10-5. On their T-side, Just For Fun continued to outperform their EPL opposition, only losing four rounds before making their way to the finals with a 16-9 scoreline.
The second semifinals series saw Rugratz take on Singularity on Overpass, Nuke, and Mirage. Starting off, it looked like Singularity were going to roll over Rugratz as they notched 10 rounds on their CT-side. After switching sides Rugratz managed to outpace Singularity to almost take the lead at 12-13, but Will "dazzLe" Loafman helped hold his team together and take Overpass 16-14.
Moving onto Nuke, the two teams were evenly matched, both tallying 8-7 halves on the T-side. A massive performance from Nathan "leaf" Orf in overtime helped Rugratz force a third map with a 19-16 scoreline.
With the series tied up, Sebastian "seb" Bucki and co. battered Rugratz on their T-side to win the half 10-5. With their backs against the wall, Rugratz massively outperformed Singularity as they only allowed two rounds before taking the map 16-11.
After two close series in the semifinals, the grand final between Just For Fun and Rugratz proved to be a bit of a one-sided affair as Just For Fun started off the series by decimating Rugratz with a 16-5 win on Mirage.
Moving onto Train, Rugratz regrouped to win their CT-side 9-6. After switching sides Just For Fun proceeded to rapidly run up the score to 15-12. Rugratz managed to launch a final comeback to force overtime, and while they did manage to claim one more round, Just For Fun promptly bested the MDL squad as they won the map 19-16.
