Riot Squad win Mythic Cup 4
Riot Squad have won Mythic Cup 4 after a quick 2-0 victory over ATK in the grand finals. The new-look squad faced little trouble over the course of the event, only dropping a single map on their way to the title.
In the first series of the day, eventual champions Riot Squad squared off against EPL side Lazarus on Mirage and Train. The opening half of Mirage saw Lazarus end their CT-side up by a single round after a strong performance from Gage "Infinite" Green. Moving onto their T-side, Lazarus continued to look in good form as they entrenched their lead by claiming the opening three rounds of the half. However, once Riot Squad's economy stabilized, they ran away with the half, claiming nine out of the next ten rounds to close out Mirage 16-12.
After a relatively close game on Mirage, Train proved to be far more straightforward as Riot Squad completely dominated Lazarus, claiming a 16-5 win to secure their spot in the finals.
In the second semifinals series, South African side ATK squared off against Singularity on Inferno, Train, and Mirage. Inferno started off with ATK in the lead as they claimed the first six rounds in a row on their T-side off the back of a pistol-round 3k by Dominic "Domsterr" Sampaio. However, ATK's lead quickly evaporated as Singularity clawed their way back to end the half down a single round. After switching sides. ATK would find the first three rounds of the half before Singularity claimed the next six to take the lead for the first time on Inferno. However, their lead was short-lived as ATK claimed the next five rounds in a row to close out Inferno 16-13.
Moving onto Train, Singularity put up a dominant performance as after claiming a 12-3 CT half, they carried their momentum onto their T-side to force a third map with a 16-8 finish.
The third map of the series ended up going the distance as after Singularity found a 9-6 T-side, moving into the second half ATK answered back in a big way, finding eight out of the first nine rounds to nearly secure map point. Singularity managed to hold on a little longer thanks in no part to an electrifying performance from Josh "oSee" Ohm climbing up to fourteen rounds. But in the end, ATK managed to prevent overtime, taking Mirage 16-14 and booking their spot in the finals.
After a close series between ATK and Singularity, the grand finals proved to be something of a blowout as Riot Squad started the series off with a dominant 16-6 win on Train.
The series continued to go poorly for ATK as Riot Squad continued their march, converting a 10-5 CT-side on Inferno into a 16-8 win to take the map and by extension the series without letting either map go into double digits.
