Official: FURIA drop drop
FURIA have officially announced that they have parted way with André "drop" Abreu, with the move coming just over a week after he was benched from the team's starting lineup. drop's removal from FURIA comes amidst reports of his impending sale to MIBR, alongside FURIA AWPer Rafael "saffee" Costa.
drop's exit from FURIA marks the end of a 22-month-long tenure with the top Brazilian team, after the young player was brought up from the organization's academy squad to fill the vacancy left by Lucas "honda" Cano in August 2021. This also marks the first change made to FURIA's active lineup in over a year, since the addition of saffee in January 2022.
While many other organizations in the Counter-Strike space have already begun shuffling around their players in the player break, FURIA has been markedly slow in their actions during this particularly hectic player break. That is not to say that rumors have not been floating around the team, with the organization inquiring about the availability of veteran IGL and AWPer Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo as far back as late May. Since then, that signing has been moving at a glacial pace, with FalleN's buyout from Imperial presenting the largest roadblock to a deal.
As mentioned previously, drop may already have his sights set on a new home, with MIBR reportedly interested in acquiring the young gun to fill the gap left behind by the benching of Matheus "Tuurtle" Anhaia. That would not be the only move that MIBR is slated to make, as the recent benching of AWPer Henrique "HEN1" Teles adds credence to similar reports that MIBR is also vying to acquire FURIA's AWPer saffee.
Should recent reports come to fruition, FURIA and MIBR are slated to be:
